Quick update about August

August was full of events, let me summarize what had happened:

Tomas Cup – huge tournament with many serious children. I have played shido games, but I was obligated to try to teach in English! It was fun!

Keikyu Shogi Matsuri – festival inside a department store, many guests attended. I have played an exhibit game against Hori Ayano Ladies Professional  2kyu (she belongs to LPSA). Normally sitting in seiza woukd be fine, but public games like this makes me nervous and I cannot immediately stand after. Later I have written many shikishi (autographs) and talked with fans. Finally I have played 3-board shido games (teaching games).  Since it was a festival, atmosphere was great!

Kumon interview – back in Yamanashi, I had an interview for Kumon, which is a famous learning center (check it out, it is really cool and maybe they are in your country). I used to learn Japanese with Kumon. In the interview I could talk about my experiences at Kumon, shogi and difficulties of living in Japan. I am grateful for the opportunity!

September is going to be interesting, but I do not wait to spoil too much. Maybe… Just a little. Here is a leaflet of event in Yamanashi. Please join if you are around:

 

At the end I give you tsumeshogi from Takamine san who works at Shogi Renmei. Funny story, when I came to Japan first time six years ago, he had showed me the same  problem. Enjoy!

Busy week / pracowity tydzień

 

Almost one month after I became 2 kyu and still I am busy. On Monday and Tuesday I was in Yamanashi receiving “Student of the year” prize from my univeristy and later meeting Kofu City Mayor.

On Wednesday I had my second teaching games in NSR. Good news, I will have more next month! Happy.

Today, on Thursday, I had two games of Joryu Osho elimination tourament. I have won first game against amateur player Isotani and I have lost second game to Yamada (who took revenge for her loss in Joryu Meijin). There was camera following me that day.

Speaking of media, tomorrow, on Friday I have 5 interviews! … I hope I will be fine.

I have to find time to study shogi. I should join kenkyukai (study group) in Yamanashi…

Już mija miesiąc od kiedy zostałam 2 kyu i wciąż jestem zajęta. W poniedziałek i wtorek byłam w Yamanashi i odebrałam nagrodę za “Studenta Roku” od mojego uniwersytetu a później spotkałam się z burmistrzem miasta Kofu

W środę po raz drugi uczyłam shido w NSR. Dobre wieści: w następnym miesiącu będę uczyć ponownie! Jestem szczęśliwa z tego powodu.

Dzisiaj, w czwartek, miałam dwie gry eliminacji Joryu Osho. Wygrałam pierwszą grę przeciwko amatorce Isotani, a w drugiej grze przegrałam z Yamada (która zrewanżowała się w ten sposób za przegraną w Joryu Meijin). Cały dzień chodziła też za mną kamera.

A propos mediów, jutro mam 5 wywiadów! … Mam nadzieję, że przeżyję.

Muszę znaleźć czas na naukę shogi w weekend. Powinnam pojechać do Yamanashi na kenkyukai (spotkanie treningowe)…

Interview and jezyki / wywiad i jeżyki

I had an interview with Mihoe Sano, who is a free writer. She is a fan of Poland! On Fat Thursday event, she made over 150 polish donuts!!

I was happy to talk with her and I have got a present, souvenir from Poland. It was cookies called “Jeżyki”. Now the funny part comes in. Polish language is difficult, so words “jeżyk” and “język” seems very alike. But meaning of first one is “hedgehog” and the other “tongue”. Cookies name “Hedgehogs” comes from the way they look – like little hedgehogs! While calling them tongues made it quite surprising for European citizen!

Breaking the barriers of new language is always difficult and sometimes funny. I hope I can meet Mihoe Sano in Poland next time!

Miałam wywiad z Mihoe Sano, która jest free writerem. Jest wielką fanką Polski! W tłusty czwartek przygotowała ponad 150 pączków!!

Bardzo miło mi się z nią rozmawiało, a także dostałam prezent z Polski. Były to ciasteczka “Jeżyki”. Oczywiście, język polski jest trudny i łatwo jest pomylić słowa “jeżyk” i “język”. “Jeżyki” nazywają się tak z powodu ich wyglądu. W przeciwieństwie do krajów Azjatyckich, Polacy rzadko jedzą języki, więc bardzo się uśmiałam!

Nauka nowego języka (ha) jest bardzo trudna, ale czasami pełna śmiechu. Mam nadzieję, że z Mihoe Sano będę mogła spotkać się znowu, tym razem w Polsce!

 

Tokyo FM experience / wywiad w Tokyo FM

I have had many interviews since last Monday, today I was at radio Tokyo FM.

Ryusuke Kelly and Angie Lee, the two hosts very kindly helped me to survive the interview in Japanese.

Do you also hate hearing your own voice? I guess I should get used to it.

I had great fun while talking about shogi and Poland. Even though it was raining on way home, I was happy.

Radio broadcast is scheduled for 6th March 20:00~ Japanese time.

Still few interviews awaiting for me, but I treat them as a chance to promote shogi.

Next week I also have the final game of eliminations to Joryu Meijin league. Need to train for it, while being busy with media.

Miałam wiele wywiadów od zeszłego poniedziałku, dzisiaj w radiu Tokyo FM.

Ryusuke Kelly i Angie Lee prowadzący program byli bardzo pomocni w moich zmaganiach z językiem japońskim.

Czy wy też nie lubicie słyszeć swojego głosu? Muszę się wreszcie przyzwyczaić.

Wspaniale było opowiedzieć o shogi i o Polsce. Nawet deszcz w drodze powrotnej do domu nie popsuł mi humoru.

Audycja odbędzie się 6. marca od 20:00 czasu japońskiego.

Przede mną wciąż parę wywiadów, ale to świetna okazja do promocji shogi.

W następnym tygodniu mam grę finałową eliminacji do ligi Joryu Meijin. Nawet zajęta mediami, muszę się do niej przygotować.
